DP World Sokhna is Egypt's primary deep-water gateway on the Gulf of Suez, immediately south of the Suez Canal and on the world's busiest east–west trade lane. Its USD 520 million Basin 2 expansion — part of DP World's USD 1.6 billion of investment in Egypt — added a 1.3-kilometre quay and a 350,000-square-metre container yard, nearly doubling annual capacity to 1.75 million TEU and equipping the port to handle the world's largest container ships. The new basin complements Sokhna's existing container terminal and its liquid-bulk station for energy and gas imports, and was brought online as the port marked a decade of operations as a key trade and logistics hub for the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
June Shipping Agency acted as the port and shipping agent in support of the project. Our team delivered the full agency scope — local representation before the port, customs and government authorities; crew and project-staff sign-on and sign-off with all associated permits and visas; parcel, ship-spares and document deliveries; and vessel clearance, husbandry and customs coordination for the ship-to-shore cranes, project equipment, barges and construction materials mobilised to site. By keeping every vessel call, crew change and delivery moving on schedule — from mobilisation through to commissioning, and without disrupting the live container and energy operations on the adjacent berths — we helped one of Egypt's most strategic ports bring major new capacity online smoothly and on time.
